The 2002 Advanced Seminar Surveys Topics in Many Fields
A comparison between the philosophies of David Hume and Ayn Rand constituted a major theme of TOC’s fourth annual Advanced Seminar in Objectivist Studies. Twenty-five students and scholars took part in the three-day meeting, which also saw discussions of art, ethics, and law.
TOC's Outreach Efforts
Twenty times, in June and July, TOC staff members got out the Objectivist message via television, radio, newspapers, and the Internet. Ed Hudgins, the recently appointed director of The Objectivist Center’s Washington D.C. office, led the way with more than three-quarters of the center’s media appearances.

Summer Seminar T-Shirts Still Available

Russ La Valle, TOC's director of marketing and production, has announced that T-shirts from the summer seminar in Los Angeles are still available. "This year's design has proved to be both popular and attention-getting," La Valle said. "According to post-conference accounts, the shirts provoke responses ranging from 'What's Objectivism?' to 'How does one practice Objectivisim?' to promises to investigate the center's Web site."

Currently, there are thirty-four T-shirts remaining: 8 ash-gray (3 X-Large; 5 Large) and 26 white (5 X-Large; 16 Large; 5 Medium). T-shirts of both colors are made from 50 percent cotton and 50 percent polyester, which gives them a lighter, less bulky feel and minimizes shrinkage from washing. The front of the shirt has "Objectivism: Theory and Practice" running across the chest, in a yellow-and-black Greek-style lettering; on the back, in a blue and black script font, is www.objectivistcenter.org. The price for one shirt is $15 dollars; for two, $25. Please order early: 1-800-374-1776 or online.
