Seminars for Students

The Objectivist Center encourages student readers of Navigator, and readers who know students interested in learning more about Objectivism, to spread the word about the wonderful program we have lined up for The Objectivist Center's 2002 Summer Seminar. For advanced students and scholars, we have a pre-conference Advanced Seminar, an intimate gathering to discuss exciting new Objectivist scholarship. During the summer seminar week, we have two ongoing morning courses (Objectivism 101 and Inductive Structure in Objectivism) and a full plate of fascinating lectures on the theory and practice of Objectivism. The philosophy offerings range from examinations of the philosophy and definition of art, to interpretations of key historical figures such as John Locke and David Hume, to ethical issues and the philosophy of mathematics. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. The seminar features an all-star cast of speakers whom one can meet face-to-face in order to learn about their field or their techniques for dealing with non-Objectivist colleagues. From start to finish, it is a week for meeting exciting people who share your values, a week that will recharge you for spending the coming year in a world that rarely sees things your way.

Best of all, thanks to generous supporters of the center, TOC is able to offer partial and full scholarships to students who would not otherwise be able to attend. Please let those who might benefit know. The deadline for scholarship applications is in April, and full information about the seminars and the scholarship program can be found on the TOC Web site.
