New TOC Web Site Design

After many months of work, TOC's Web site manager, Shawn Klein, recently unveiled the center's new Web design. The primary goal of the reworked design was to provide an attractive site that is easy to navigate and user-friendly. At the same time, TOC wished to add new contents and features, many of which will premiere later in the year.

One of the exciting new features, and one that has received a lot of attention, is the Objectivist Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). In this section, center writers will provide answers to the questions people most often have about Objectivism. Answers will be added on an ongoing basis.

Another new section on the site is "Ideas and Issues," which replaces the former Web Library. "Ideas and Issues" is a searchable archive of all the site's articles, commentaries, reviews, interviews, and audio clips on subjects related to Objectivism, philosophy, and cultural issues. With topic areas ranging from bioethics to environmentalism, from aesthetics to political philosophy, and from foreign affairs to economics, the site will offer everyone interesting and challenging ideas.

Most immediately noticeable among the new features are "Printer-Friendly" and "Send to a Friend." The former allows visitors to convert online items into readable printed versions. "Send to a Friend" lets a visitor forward the URL of an article to someone who may find the piece interesting. The center hopes that people will take advantage of this latter feature to help promote Objectivism.

Although reluctant to give away too much information about forthcoming features, Klein promises to continue updating the site with the latest in Objectivist thought and writings, and to build up the site's archives from back issues of Navigator and the IOS Journal.
